Project Resources & Links
Our trails were mapped in ArcGIS. This page opens up that mapping data, along with the working files behind each guide, so anyone can load the trails into their own GPS app, build on the map, or pick up where we left off. Use it anywhere it helps the trail community: in GPS apps, on trail sites like AllTrails and Gaia GPS, or in your own maps.
The trail map from our GIS data
Every layer below comes straight from our ArcGIS project. Use the layer button (top right) to switch on regional trails, Big White resort trails, the ecological reserve and the Controlled Recreation Area. Click any line for details.
Download GPS files
Each trail line, exported from our GIS data. GPX works in Gaia GPS, AllTrails, Strava, Garmin and most GPS apps. KML opens in Google Earth and Google My Maps. GeoJSON is for QGIS, ArcGIS and developers. Click a trail name to find it on the map.
| Trail | Distance | Difficulty & travel | Download |
|---|
Distances, difficulty and travel times are from our trail guides on the Info PDF page. Trails marked coming soon are mapped and their guides are on the way, so their distance is the length of the mapped line. These files are for planning only: conditions change, so check before you go. Stay on public land and respect local regulations.
GIS project files
The full ArcGIS work, for anyone building their own maps.
Trail shapefile GIS
The lines for 8 of our 9 guided trails (Ideal Lake is in the ArcGIS project), with name, distance, allowed use and guide link. Opens in QGIS, ArcGIS or Google Earth Pro. Download all 8 files together.
ArcGIS Pro project GIS
The full project (BigWhiteTrails.aprx) and file geodatabase, as of Aug 15, 2025. The project has 45 layers: our trails, regional trails, resort bike, hike, Nordic and snowshoe trails, chairlifts, lakes, roads, the ecological reserve, the Controlled Recreation Area, a proposed fire route and map-book grid indexes. It also has 3 print layouts.
Elevation profiles
Elevation data per trail, and the spreadsheet that turns it into the elevation charts in each guide (as a PDF).
Trail guide source files
PDF copies of the documents each trail guide was made from, with the trip photos.

On AllTrails
AllTrails listings related to trails on our Info PDF page. They follow different routes from ours, but they're useful for reviews, photos and recent conditions.
| Our trail | On AllTrails | How it compares |
|---|---|---|
| Hydraulic Lake Bike Trail | Hydraulic Lake · Hydraulic Lake Paddle · Ern Lake via McCullough Trail | Same lake, reached from the McCulloch / Kettle Valley Rail Trail side. Our trail begins across from the Okanagan Observatory on Big White Rd. |
| Copperkettle Lake Bike Trail | Copper Kettle & Porcupine Cut Off Loop | A Nordic ski loop at Big White, not the route to Copperkettle Lake. |
Not on AllTrails yet: Clear Lake Bike Loop, Copperkettle Lake Bike Trail, Lassie Lake Bike Trail, Ideal Lake Trail, White House Trail, Nevertouch Lake Loop, Cup Lake Bike Trail and Sandrift Lakes Bike Trail. Feel free to add them using our GPX files above.
